Kraft Indulgence Milk and White Chocolate Cream Cheese Spreads

Talk about a tough assignment. Would I be willing to try the new PHILADELPHIA INDULGENCE; a chocolate spread from Kraft that has married cream cheese with either dark, milk or white chocolate? My first thoughts went to a dessert I’ve loved forever which layers a cookie crust with chocolate pudding and a whipped cream cheese layer. I love how the tang of the cheese blends with the chocolate to make for a less sweet finish and I was hoping for the same with this product and it did not disappoint.

I decided to do one  recipe with each product but I was only able to find the milk chocolate and white chocolate tubs at the grocery; the demand is already so great that the dark chocolate was out of stock. The truth is I feel like a confession is necessary…this was meant to be. I can not deny I’m a milk chocoholic through and through!!

The first job I ever had (and that was a FEW years ago) was with a large company in a suburb of St. Louis. They had a full cafeteria for employees and coffee break for most meant bagels with cream cheese. That quickly became a bit too mundane for my palate; to this day I love matching bagels with unique variations of cream cheese and dollops of jam. In keeping with one of my special breakfast traditions I decided to try the white chocolate on a toasted bagel paired with a gorgeous raspberry and cointreau jam. This spoke perfectly of the name…it was most definitely an indulgence! The sweeter finish of the white chocolate spread paired perfectly with a softly tart jam. A simple but perfectly special breakfast.

I wanted to do something else that I could serve as an appetizer and for this choice my patriotism is showing. I hold these truths to be self evident. Milk chocolate. Dates, Spicy Brown Sugar Cured Bacon. Add those together and you have amazing. I could not wait to try this combination. A small spoonful of PHILADELPHIA MILK CHOCOLATE INDULGENCE was stuffed inside a date which was then wrapped in a slice of bacon and broiled. I know this will most likely be unfair to mention but that bacon is my home cured so adding a brown sugar, paprika and red pepper cured bacon was the perfect foil to the sweetness of the dates and the milk chocolate spread. This was one of those sweet, salty, crispy, chewy delights that were gone way too soon.

Even though I work long hours I still love having friends over to my home to socialize. With the warmer weather on its way I’m so looking forward to my favorite thing which includes a patio bedecked with twinkle lights, the soft gurgle of my little pond in the distance soothing my soul while I share an adult beverage and some great appetizers with good friends. There is definitely a place in my kitchen and my schedule for convenience and a little indulgence. What about you…what is your favorite indulgence?

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 3 minutes

Yield: Makes 16

Kraft Philadelphia Indulgence. Exactly!

Ingredients

  • 8 slices Bacon
  • 16 Medjool or other large dates
  • 4-6 oz Kraft Philadelphia Milk Chocolate Indulgence Spread

Preparation

  1. Preheat broiler or grill
  2. Cut strips of bacon in half
  3. Pit dates if necessary; slit open one side with small knife and remove seed
  4. Fill date with cream cheese spread; approximately 1/2 tsp per date
  5. Wrap one piece of bacon around each date; adhering with toothpick
  6. Broil or grill on high until bacon is crisp, approximately 1 minute per side
  7. Serve immediately

I live in Manning, SC. Last year I found Indulgence at the Food Lion store in Sumter. I went there today and was told they discontinued it 3 month ago. We have a Super Wal-Mart, IGA and Piggly Wiggly in our town, do you know what stores carry Indulgence.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi,
I am so disappointed. My local stores have all ceased carrying the Philadelphia Indulgence mousses.
They claim it does not sell fast enough and they have to throw out too much as it goes out of date.
Is the some way you can package it for a longer shelf live? Like a frozen version? Shoprite, Acme, Murphy’s markets and Wegmen’s have all stopped carrying the product. Zip 08088,08055, 08053

My zip code is 08022 – have not been able to find Philadelphia indulgence, milk chocolate, in local stores. I did find caramel at ShopRite in Mercer County. So far I have checked 4 stores in my area. Please help…

I asked the Kraft folks on Twitter as I was sure they must have had a product locator and they do. Refer to their product locator at http://kraft.us/helmPq to run a search. Philly Indulgence is found under cheese. Hope that helps.

ok….so I had a coupon and love cream cheese and chocolate…so I thought I would give it a whirl….sad to say, but I tried a little bit on a spoon and forgot all about graham crackers or anything else….lol…this stuff is good on a spoon!!!!!

I purchased the white chocolate and the milk chocolate Indulgence cream cheese, I used Graham crackers and spread some with the white chocolate and some with the milk chocolate them places fresh sliced strawberries on top. I did this at work and my co-workers loved it. Some of them are going out to purchase and make for their grandchildren, this is a quickeasy and light dessert good for any occasion.

They were very good. I also do them with pecans and goat cheese and really would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Maybe a pecan chocolate/goat cheese combo? :)

What a tough assignment! ;) I love the sound of the chocolate cream cheese spread. As I mentioned on Twitter, I wonder how long before they are available here in Australia. We always seem to get left behind.

As for my favourite indulgence, I love nothing more than a cup of tea and a square of good quality chocolate. Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that are the best!

It’s going to sound awful but I REALLY want everything shown here. I have not seen Kraft’s chocolate cream cheese spreads but here yet but when I find them…look out! Love that you made these stuffed with the cream cheese and wrapped in your own bacon. They must be just heavenly.

Well, now I am going to have to try this. Like you I am a confirmed milk chocoholic, like the dark but milk chocolate sends me to the moon. I really love how you filled the dates with it and wrapped it in your home cured bacon. Even without the chocolate this would be a real treat.

Another way I love dates and bacon is simply putting a whole pecan inside the date; wrapping it with the bacon and grilling or broiling them. My favorite appetizer at a local restaurant that is so easy to do at home too.
