I Missed National Margarita Day?

National Margarita Day

Well, not really missed it but I’ve heard from enough folks to know they sort of expected a margarita post from me yesterday. Oops! I had to make a choice and thought an Oscar Cocktail needed to happen instead for The Friday Cocktail. Besides, we really need to start a movement to change this day. Margaritas seem to me to be the quintessential summer cocktail. February 22? Whoever decided that? I mean really, who? Before I start that movement to get this day allocated to a summer month, I thought the least I could do was share the Margaritas I love that I’ve already posted so if you’re inclined to make it a three day holiday you’ve got some other options!

The Perfect Margarita

This is my all time favorite; actually this is the margarita that changed margaritas for me. I hated them before I made my own and it’s as simple as one word. Reposado. No two. Reposado and Orange Liqueur (no triple sec here!). Use good ingredients and fresh fruit and the difference will be remarkable. Don’t you DARE buy that premix stuff ever again…you will not be sorry!

Blood Orange Margarita

I made an exception this time last year with no regrets. This is not just a pretty face.

Caprese Margarita

It’s definitely unique and no one was more surprised than myself how good it was!

Raspberry Margarita Slushie

Meant to be a popsicle; I learned the hard way. Too much booze really is not a good thing!

Jalapeno Margarita

Not for the faint of heart…this definitely has a kick from Jalapeno Tequila.

Sparkling Pomegranate Margarita

A margarita and sparkling wine? Absolutely! Though I’m making my Grenadine differently now and this would be pink!

Margarita Watermelon

No, you read that right. This is not a watermelon margarita but watermelon infused with the flavors of margarita. Now this is summer only but save it for a nice day with a fabulous watermelon. So delish!

The Best Guacamole

OK, obviously not a margarita but you have to serve them with something right? Forget all the extravagant concoctions you might have seen; make your guacamole simple and let the avocado shine. It’s truly the best!

I hope I’ve made reparations with these and now I want one, stat! It’s all your fault!

Now I want a margarita too!! They’re all so beautiful and tempting. I’ve never had Reposado so now I need to make that happen. And I am so intrigued by the caprese margarita. So creative!

My neighbors recently changed my view of margaritas as only a summer drink– they brought some to our house while we watched the Super Bowl. It was perfect. My mango guacamole, their margaritas, and take out from Chipotle made for the easiest and tastiest Superbowl in a long time! It’s great to have your list of margaritas all in one post. Pinning it now.

Does sound good I have to admit. But as I sit here watching snow and actually feeling a bit too chilly; well, I might prefer my tequila in some salted caramel hot chocolate right about now! Brrrrr.

I totally agree that Margarita day should be in the summer! No wonder I missed it yesterday! I love a Margarita, just straight up alcohol, lime juice and lots of salt usually works for me! However I could be persuaded to try your blood orange and raspberry slushie versions. You name the day later in the year and I will join in for sure!

We need to start a campaign; we could make 2/22 National Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate with Tequila Day maybe…that just sounds more fitting!

Margaritas a ‘summer drink’??? Obviously you are not from the South. EVERYDAY is Margarita day down here. Today it is again 80 degrees – what better weather for a Margarita?. They will go good with our fajitas that are now marinating for our dinner on the deck! T. Q, Florida

Well, summer for those of us who experience winter! I guess when in Florida I would do as Floridians do but here in Colorado I’ve got snow on the ground! Jealous.

I agree with moving the day, seems like it should be around Cinco de Mayo, not in February when a hot chocolate spiked with coconut rum would warm the insides.
