It’s the holiday season and this year Frangelico® Hazelnut Liqueur is providing an opportunity for us to support an organization that is devoted to the support of animal welfare and pet adoption in the U.S.  Chocolatier MarieBelle has partnered with Frangelico to unveil delicious truffles with the decadent taste of Hazelnut Liqueur, combined with rich dark chocolate and layered with notes of vanilla, coffee and almond.

“MarieBelle has established itself as the ‘must-have’ confectioner in New York City, so I can think of no better partner as we team to support a very deserving charity,” said Peter Gyimesi, brand director for Frangelico. “Frangelico has always offered the simple pleasure of hazelnut indulgence and these truffles are the perfect treat, allowing folks to spread the holiday spirit a little further by giving gifts that benefit a cause near and dear to their hearts.”

A portion of the proceeds from the special-edition Frangelico truffle will be donated to Bideawee®, one of the country’s oldest and most respected animal welfare and pet adoption organizations. For more than 100 years, Bideawee has cultivated and supported the life-long relationships between pets and the people who love them.

“We are honored to be collaborating with Frangelico and MarieBelle to help pets and their owners,” said Bideawee President & CEO Nancy Taylor. “By bringing these three great brands together, we can elevate awareness of our commitment to finding forever homes for pets in need throughout this holiday season.”

In keeping with the charitable theme, the chocolates are emblazoned with an adorable custom design of kitten and puppy faces, ideal for dog and cat lovers alike or anyone wanting to give back during this season and beyond (available thru January 2013).

The truffles are best enjoyed with the Frangelico Truffle cocktail, created by leading Spirits Expert James Moreland. In keeping with my own need to mix things up a bit, I’ve taken the liberty of adding a bit of cream to the original cocktail, preferring that little bit extra richness that just seemed so ‘truffleesque’ to me.

On sale for a limited time only, the Frangelico MarieBelle truffles come in a signature red gift box with ribbon, available in 4-piece, 9-piece, 16-piece and 25-piece gift boxes, with prices starting at $15.00. The special edition Frangelico charity truffles will be available at the MarieBelle chocolate boutique in New York City and online at http://www.mariebelle.com from November through January 2013.

Wishing you and yours a Very Merry Christmas!

Nice cocktail and pictures! Did you use the Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens in the top photo? Good combo of ingredients in this, and it’s great of you to support such worthy causes.

Thanks John and yes…it’s the only macro I have. I should have taken a photo of the setup I had to build to get that photo! I take more and more photos all the time it seems but this one won for sure…wasn’t sure just how much bokeh I would like so let’s just say I shot a huge variety coupled with different exposures of each to get one I loved.

Isn’t that the truth. Good in multiple ways! Thanks Karen; you should see the setup I had to go to in order to get that one with the tree…that’s a photo I should have included. :)

Especially after the trauma you had with your daughter’s dog earlier this year, it is so fitting and kind that you are supporting a charity to help animal welfare. I know it means a lot to you. What a wonderful sounding drink!

I wish I could have included it sooner but I appreciate the effort by both companies to do good; our pets are a part of our family and it’s good to know there are places that help animals that need a ‘forever’ home. I had thought of trying to tie it into cookies too but there are limits and that wasn’t going to happen this week…love seeing you participate with the bloggers making cookies today.
