Spanish Coffee Cake


3/4 cups white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil or margarine
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon nutmeg

2 1/2 cups flour
1 egg
1 cup sour milk
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Glaze: powdered sugar and milk or water mixed into a glaze

1. Mix first six ingredients together and reserve 3/4 cup for topping. Add cinnamon to mixture.

2. Add egg to mixture and combine. Dissolve baking soda in sour milk and add to mixture. beat well.

3. Spread batter into lightly greased 9x13 pan. Spoon on reserved topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

4. Glaze while warm

* to make sour milk, add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar. Stir and let stand 5 minutes.
