The Stuart Smalley Awards for Food Bloggers

It’s a given; each year there will be nominations for the ‘Best of” Food Blogger awards and each year the same people will win. Mostly because they are voted on by rabid followers and readers who can sometimes be a tad bit stalkerish in their undivided devotion to _______________ (insert name that works for you here).

So, each year, the rich do get richer. And it’s time for something different so in my own small way I would like to announce the following winners. All of them. First Place.

Enjoy with me the amazing wealth of food bloggers that never get to know that feeling; you know that feeling of being at the top of the heap when people say what you want to hear and just hope and pray you will bless them with a glance or a crumb…oh wait, we DON’T know that and in truth, I hope these people never will.

I like real people, who love to eat and cook and talk about food and become friends; that stuff. And I am lucky to count the following among them. Because we are good enough, we are smart enough and ‘Doggone It, People Like Us!’

The Stuart Smalley Award Winners:

  • Vino Luci Style – Yes, that is me, listed on my own site but hey if I start this list and leave myself off…well, you know how pathetic that would be?
  • LaFujiMama – She wins because I had an idea and she was fearless about letting me test it. It was called WordPress. Heard of it?
  • Merry Gourmet – She’s a mom, a doc and a southern gal bringing family traditions and new recipes to play in her Florida kitchen. Wait, with wine, don’t forget the wine.
  • Evil Shenanigans – She’s on the bubble. A book deal could be a disqualification but I like her.
  • Abby Dodge – She’s an author, a recipe developer and in the eyes of many already the cream of the crop. But she’s nice to me, so there.
  • A Thought for Food – I adore him. That is all. Well, maybe that it’s mutual…that matters!
  • Jenn Cuisine – Don’t call her Gluten Free; just call her good! Food and photos both amazing.
  • Eat Live Travel Write – Someone who eats and travels a lot. And writes about it. That’s an award in itself!
  • Ethan Adeland – He’s young and talented but let’s get real. We like him cause he’s cute.
  • Smith Bites – No she doesn’t!
  • Cake Duchess – She is teaching me Italian. Ciao! How did I do?
  • Former Chef – No longer a slave to FoodGawker, you now have a place with us.
  • Lighter and Local – She said the word wine. She’s in.
  • Full Circle; Living, Loving and Baking – You think I’m pretty…Aw, you didn’t have to say that (well, yes you did). But you’re a winner!
  • The Kitchen Mage - I don’t even know what that means; it must have something to do with speaking your mind.
  • Bite Me New England – And she wonders why she gets, in her own words, bubkus. Love that. And her Twitter avatar.
  • Duhlicious - She knows why; I’m a woman of my word. Besides…don’t you LOVE that name?

To be included on this list I ask you do the following:

  • Follow me on Twitter.
  • Follow me on Facebook – wait, am I on Facebook?
  • Follow my sponsors on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Skype and follow their blogs too.
  • Signup for my RSS feed on both my food blog and my business blog and my 2nd food blog.
  • Be sure to tell me where you are RIGHT NOW via Foursquare cause I love nothing better than links to nothing.
  • Leave 6-8 different comments telling me you’ve done all these things
  • Tell me how pretty I am

OR

  • Just ask…unless you have actually won some big blogging award which means, sorry…you’re disqualified. Why are you even here reading my blog? :)

Speeches

The best thing about these awards? Since everyone is a winner no one needs to give a speech and we don’t have to sit through hours of thanks to producers, directors, key grips and lovers wives. But I will honor those that feel a need to say a word; after all, it is what we LIVE for!
